Chalk

Need:
Toilet roll tube, 3/4 cups of warm water, 1 1/2 cups of plaster of paris, 2-3 tablespoons of tempa paint, container for mixing, wax paper

Instructions:
Cover the ends of the toilet roll tube with duct tape or a strong tape. Place loose wax paper inside of the toilet roll tube. This will create a lining to prevent the plaster of paris from sticking. Pour the water into the container, the sprinkle plaster of paris, a little at a time into the water until the plaster can no longer dissolve. Stir thoroughly. Mix 2-3 tablespoons of the tempa paint in. Place the toilet roll tube sealed end down on a flat surface. Pour plaster of paris into the tube. Tap the sides of the tube to release any air bubbles. Let this dry for 2-3 days. Pull of the mold. Draw and have fun. You can add more food color for a darker color if desired. Also do not forget to wash the container and spoon very well and be careful not to clog up your sink. Use plenty of water to clean.

Spray Chalk

Need:

4 tablespoons cornstarch, 1 cup warm water, 4 to 6 drops food coloring

Instructions:
Mix all ingredients together in a bowl. Pour into a small spray bottle. Shake before using to avoid clogs. You can use this to create designs on sidewalks, in the snow, or at the beach for colorful sand sculptures.

Sidewalk Chalk 1

Need:
Water, Plaster of Paris, large bowl, small container or molds, water base paints (washable Tempera)

Instructions:
Fill large bowl 1/2 full of plaster of Paris and slowly add water. Stir until plaster resembles pudding. Add paint until you achieve the desired color. Pour into molds and let set for about a day or until dry. When dry turn containers upside down, hit on hard surface until chalk pops out and have fun drawing.

Sidewalk Chalk 2

Need:

1 cup Plaster of Paris, 1/2 cup cool water, bowl, molds, tempera paint

Instructions:
Combine Plaster of Paris, water and tempera paint in the bowl and mix well. Pour mixture into molds and let dry completely. Pop chalk out of molds and you are ready to draw!

Eggshell Chalk

Need:

6 eggshells, 1 teaspoon very hot water from the tap, 1 teaspoon flour, food processor, soup spoon

Instructions:
The eggshells should be washed so they don't have any egg left in them. Dry them well. Grind the egg shells in the food processor till fine. You'll need one soup spoonful of this powder to make a stick of chalk. Mix flour and the hot water in a small dish. Stir them together to make a paste. Put the soup spoonful of eggshell powder into the paste and mix well. Mash it with the back of the spoon. Shape this mixture into a chalk stick, then roll it up in a strip of paper towel. Let it dry. Drying takes about three days. Just peel the paper towel off one end and you're ready for some sidewalk art. This chalk is for sidewalks only.
